Don't forget Hossa getting carted off the ice on a stretcher which knocked him out in the playoffs. Jonny Toews had that concussion that kept him out for all of the stretch-run of the regular season.

Injuries are part of the game, so you cannot really claim the excuse. But, the Bulls were likely to make a run at a championship. Now, there is no way anyone would give them that chance.

The worst part of last night for the Hawks is that they lost Hossa. I have not heard how he is doing today, but when a player gets carried off the ice on a stretcher and spends the night in the hospital, you don't expect him to be back.

Our church apparently attracts lots of those 2-time-a-year-church-goers. The early service (the one we went to) was full. The next service was looking to be already overflowing when we tried to make our way out through the masses. I am quite sure it was standing-room-only for that service. The 3rd service was probably like the 2nd if not more so.

Our Pastor's opening line in his sermon was something like, "It is good to see you all back from Christmas". He got a good laugh.

Actually, you can deduct the part of the mortgage payment that is interest, not the whole payment. Early on in the life of the mortgage, the payments are almost all interest, but the proportion that is interest decreases over the term of the loan. Once you get to the point in paying off the mortgage where the amount of the payment that is interest is very small, the advantage of an early payoff disappears, because you could earn more interest by investing the money instead of using it to pay off the mortgage (assuming, of course, that you can get an anywhere decent interest rate--good luck with that these days). Of course, there's always feeling good about getting rid of the debt.

As a non-retired person, I have to pay quarterly taxes too. I consider it a personal failure if I get a refund. It is sort of tough because (for me anyway) there is no way in April to know what my income for the entire year will be. If I don't take out enough, I get penalized. Doesn't seem fair that I don't get an award if I pay too much during the year.

Personally, I would rather just pay a big check when taxes are due rather than go through the guesswork at the beginning of the year. Unfortunately, most people would not be able to pay if the government let them save for themselves and write one big check.

It still amazes me how many people I talk to who consider that refund "free money". Every year I get in at least one argument that if someone gets a big refund they should not be happy ... they should take corrective action next year so it does not happen again.

I guess I'm just weird that way. Probably comes from upbringing.

It is hard to imagine that anyone could actually dislike the guy. He is always so positive, cheerful, and nice to everyone at all times. People may disagree with his beliefs and/or politics, but you can't dislike how he handles himself and treats other people.

Personally, I've had my doubts about his ability to lead an NFL team to a championship, but he sure has been entertaining to watch. The Bronco fans have had so little to be excited about for quite awhile, so if nothing else at least he has given the fan base something to cheer for. And, if he keeps improving I would love to say I was wrong to doubt his NFL QB ability.

One thing is for sure ... I would really like to see Tebow and his team mates shut up the New England fans tonight.

I feel the same way about weather patterns here in front-range Colorado. So many people seem shocked when we get sunny warm weather in the winter or when we get huge snow storms in the spring or when the monsoon season comes in the summer. All these happen happen almost every year, but they always surprise even people who have lived here for years.
