Vultures

NBA fans (i.e.,Eric) out there know that in 2010 the following players become free agents Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Amare Stoudemire, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Tyson Chandler, Manu Ginobili, Richard Jefferson, Joe Johnson, Tracy McGrady, Yao Ming, Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzki,  Michael Redd, & LeBron James.

So various teams are arranging their payrolls to have a lot of cash to get 1 or more of the above players. Theoretically the draft is how you build a team, where the worst teams get first pick so there is a competitive balance. But the Vultures will be trying to get the best players from the teams that were smart enough to draft them.

In baseball the Seattle Mariners drafted Randy Johnson, Alex Rodriguez, & Ken Griffey Jr. but the Yankees & other teams bought them away from their original team.

In the olden days the Yankees bought Babe Ruth from the Boston team because they had the money.

I know that players should have the ability to make the most money they can; but as a fan it seems that competitiveness would be nice too!

The country is full of good coaches. What it takes to win is a bunch of interested players.
-Don Coryell, ex-San Diego Chargers Coach
