Since I retired, time seems to not have as many reference points as it once did. When I was working, I could look forward to those Monday holidays, but now the only thing they mean is that we don't get mail that day and usually we forget that it is a holiday.
When our kids were growing up, we had interesting reference points like first walking, talking, first day of school.
It was easier to remember when things happened. Like in 1970, we had our first child and were living at school and we went to the hospital after midnight. But now it is hard to remember when things happened. How long ago did my LW join her singing chorus was it 2005 or 2006 or 2007? When did we replace the roof, 2003 or 4 or 6 or etc.? When did we get our dog?
I remember doing things just not the reference point (date). We were trying to remember when we did something the other day(week, month?) and we couldn't.
So young people enjoy your reference points!
